This
is a lovely walk over meadow land in the shadow of Wolf Fell and
Parlick. Free parking is found in Chipping and the walk could equally
start from the parking place close to Fell Foot. The path is mainly
on the flat except for the negotiations of Dobson's and Chipping
Brooks where there are fairly steep descents and ascents.

From the main
street in Chipping, walk up by the side of the church and bear right through the former works of H.J. Berry (Chairmakers). At the Y-fork in the road bear right to the pond. The FP starts at a stile to the right of the pond. The path goes steadily uphill
in a straight line following the wire fence on the right, over
a stile, and then descends towards the brook. Aim for a large ash tree. Walk by the tree towards the second wire fence. Look for the stile about 50 yds above the brook. The path descends to the brook which is crossed
by a wooden footbridge. The path ascends to Windy Hill.
(20 min))

After
the gate turn sharp left at the barn conversion; follow the farm track to the road;
continue up the farm road to Saddle End Farm. (20 min)

A
few yards before the farm the path to Wolfen Hall is seen on
the left. The path is straightforward going over a series of
stiles and following white-capped waymarkers. Just before the
Hall the path descends to a footbridge and ascends the steep
gully of Chipping Brook. A diversionary path leads in front
of Wolfen Hall. About 200 yd after the Hall the path bears
right over the road. Again white waymarkers lead the way over
pasture to the ruin of Wildcock House. (Do not go through the
wooden gate on the right; this leads to Fell Foot). (25 min)

The path now turns sharp
left to Fish House (bearing 140 º). After crossing the
road the path continues across sheep pasture. After two stiles
the path emerges at the road before Fish House. At the road
turn left and go through the Fish House farmyard. (20 min)

The farm track leads onto
pasture and the path continues straight ahead. Crossing the
stream leads to a squeezer stile in the facing stone wall. The
path continues over two stiles to the road leading to Springs
House. At the road turn left and then turn right along the
main road to Chipping. (15 min)
