This walk offer two possibilities. The full walk follows the Dales Way alongside the River Dee
to Dillicar. There then follows a climb up the fellside with panoramic
views across Dentdale and on to Stone Rigg. The path now follows
Green Lane to the sign for Nun House. The homeward trek is down the stony
path to Mill Bridge and so back to Dent again following the Dales Way (distance 9.25 miles).
Alternatively the walk can be shortened by returning to Dent alongside Flinter Gill (distance 6.59 miles).
There are two pubs in Dent:
The Sun Inn and
The George & Dragon;
both are open all day.

The
walk starts at Church Bridge. From the car part in Dent walk through
the church grounds and follow the road to the bridge. The FP is
along the Dales Way firstly to Barth Bridge and then on to where
the FP meets the road close to Dillicar. The walk is straightforward;
the walker encountering a series of gates, stiles and footbridges.
(60 min)

Turn left
at the road for 400 yd. The FP (to Stone Rigg and Bower Bank) starts
to the left of the barn with a sharp left before the cottage. Follow
the farm track uphill, keeping to the left of the ruin, continue
to the gate leading onto the farm track at Bower Bank. Turn right
and follow the track bypassing Tofts to Combe House. The path now
goes along a grassy track with views over Dent, follows the fellside
contour, and descents to the ladder stile at Stone Rigg. Bear right
to find the next ladder stile at the road. (60 min)

Turn right
at the road for 600 yd. The FP (to Dent, Nun House, and High Moss)
is seen on the left. The fairly rough farm track between stone walls
follows the contour high above Dent. The FP sign to Dent on the left
indicates Flinter Gill. (35 min)

The track
somewhat rough and stony follows the course of Flinter Gill with
some beautiful views of the water. After the second double gate look left uphill for the view point with map. Spectacular views to the east and west over Dentdale can be seen from here. At Dent continue straight down
the road to the car park. (35 min)

Carry on along Green Lane to the signpost to Nun House. (30 min)

The path now follows a very stony old road between two stone walls to Nun House and so on to the road. Cross the road following the sign to Mill Bridge. At the derelict farm house (Scow) turn left following the waymarkers; after the first gate notice the lime kiln on left. Carry on to the small gate found at the left hand side of the next stone wall. The path continues to the white cottage seen at the road; turn right to Mill Bridge. (40 min)

A signpost for Church Bridge points the way back to Dent along the Dales Way. (45 min)
